Types of Assessments<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

    \n
  • Formative assessments are used during instruction and provide feedback to adjust ongoing teaching and learning.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Summative assessments are generally given after instruction (end of a unit, course, or grade)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Interim assessments fall between formative and summative and are given to evaluate students\u2019 knowledge and skills relative to a specific set of standards.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n

    Assessment Participants<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

      \n
    • Classroom assessments are determined by individual teachers. Some examples are pre-tests, end of unit or chapter tests, quizzes, and informal assessments to gauge students\u2019 understanding, provide grades, and inform teaching.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Schoolwide assessments (MAP growth assessment)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • State and National assessments are Delaware System of Student Assessment (DeSSA), Science ( high school Biology), Social Studies (11th grade), PSAT (9th & 10th grade), and SAT (11 grade). It also includes tests for specific groups: DeSSA Alt-1 (alternative test) for students with severe cognitive disabilities, ACCESS (Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State) for English Language Learners (taken until demonstrating proficiency in English). Students enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) courses have an opportunity to take AP exams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
