School – Parent Compact<\/strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

GOWILM staff and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state\u2019s high standards.
<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Students:<\/strong>
<\/strong>I understand that learning is important, and I must do my part to succeed. I will:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

  • Come to school each day prepared to learn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Complete all of my classwork and homework on time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Follow the rules and be responsible for my behavior.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Ask for help when I need it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Have a positive attitude about school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Reflect on my actions.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n

    Parents\/ Guardians:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

    \n

    I realize the importance of working with the school to improve my child\u2019s academic performance.  I can assist this process by:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

      \n
    • Providing an environment that encourages reading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Monitoring assignments and assisting with homework.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Reinforcing consistent school attendance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Responding promptly to all school communications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Contact the school if I have any questions or concerns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Participating in conferences and school functions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Serving on school and district-based committees as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n

      Teachers\/ Principal:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

      \n

      The teachers and staff of GOWILM realize the importance of providing every child with a high-quality curriculum and developmentally appropriate instruction.  The teachers and staff will:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

        \n
      • Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment. This will enable the participating students to meet the state\u2019s student academic achievement standards through teacher professional development in researched-based strategies and state standards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Provide the opportunity for parent-teacher conferences during which the compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual after each marking period (or as needed).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Provide parents with frequent reports of the children\u2019s progress through interims, report cards, and assessments.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Provide parents with reasonable access to staff through appointments made through the main office, e-mails, and phone calls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in GOWILM endeavors, and to observe classroom activities by advertising these opportunities through written and\/or verbal communication as well as encouraging parents to contact the main office to discuss opportunities with administrators and teachers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n

        I hereby understand this compact between Great Oaks Charter School to ensure academic access, and success for all students. (Signature is not required, but highly recommended)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
